Abstract

The ear-and-eye mask (10, fig 1) is provided with a mask body (12, fig 1) having an eye mask (14, fig 1) positioned in-use to cover a user's eyes and a pair of ear coverings (18, fig 1) positioned in-use to cover a user's ears. Each ear covering includes an outer cup 230 which defines a cavity 234. The outer cup comprises first and second passive noise-damping members 242. An audio microphone 256 is positioned in the cavity 234 such that external sounds are damped by both the first and second passive noise-dampening members before reaching the audio capture device. An active noise-attenuation and noise-masking system 246 is positioned in the ear covering. The noise-attenuation system comprises a noise cancelling circuit 248 which receives an input from the audio capture device 256, and a speaker 236. The noise masking system 264 includes a spectral noise analyser such that the masking noise matches the ambient noise remaining after cancellation.The apparatus creates enhanced napping conditions for a user.
