Secret contact combination switches for preventing the theft of motor vehicles comprise a series of lettered drums T, T<1>, T<11>, T<111>, which, when correctly set, close one or more electric circuits, e.g. the ignition circuit and the circuit for the electric starter. In the form shown, each drum carries a pair of contacts 12 connected by a conducting bar 13 and between and at the ends of the drums are arranged fixed discs 6, 5, each carrying eight fixed contacts 9 arranged at equal distances round its periphery, Fig. 3. Only when the drums are in the position shown is a circuit completed between two terminals 10 through the contacts 9, 12. In other positions the feel of the drums is the same since the contacts 12 are engaging other contacts 9 but there is no through circuit. The drums T are provided with a number of holes for the reception of the bars 13 and the combination may be changed by setting the bars 13 in different holes. The drums rotate on a shaft 4 which is fixed by pins 7 to the discs 6, 5 and is mounted in a casing 3 and consisting of two sections fastened by bolts 2 to the board 1.
