Abstract
A physical Access Point (AP) manages a plurality of BSS groups through Virtual APs. The AP sends beacon frames informing of the profile of each BSS. The AP can send a trigger frame to reserve a transmission opportunity (TXOP) including resource units the stations access to transmit data during the reserved TXOP. To improve channel utilization, the trigger frame identifies a plurality of BSS groups, stations of which are allowed to access the resources units to transmit data during the reserved TXOP. To support random access procedure onto the resources units of the reserved TXOP identifying a plurality of groups, the AP provides a joint set of random access parameters in the beacon frame, in addition to the set of random access parameters of each BSS. A station of given group has to use the joint set of random access parameters or the set of its BSS for the random access procedure. The station computes a ratio of at least one random access parameter between the joint set and its BSS set (e.g OCWmin). Applying a scale factor on the backoff counter value (OBO) ensures equivalent fairness in accessing the offered resources units to transmit data.
