EMBEDDED CEILING LIGHTING DEVICE CAPABLE OF PROVIDING

FIREPROOF PROTECTION

The invention relates to an embedded ceiling lighting device, more particularly to an embedded ceiling lighting device capable of providing fireproof protection.

Referring to Figure 1, a conventional embedded ceiling lighting device 1 is shown to include a lamp cover 11, a lamp 12, a fireproof layer 13, and a control circuit 15. The lamp cover 11 is embedded in a ceiling 200, and is configuredwithan inner accommodating space 114. The lamp cover 1]. has a base wall 111 disposed distal from the ceiling 200, and an annular surrounding wall 112 extending from a periphery of the base wall 111 toward the ceiling 200. The lamp 12 is mounted in a lower portion of the accommodating space 114 in the lamp cover 11. The fireproof layer 13 is made of an intumescent material, and is attachedto an inner surface of the lamp cover 11. The fireproof layer 13 has a first part 131 attached to the base wall 111 of the lamp cover 11, and a second part 132 connected to the first part 131 and attached to an upper portion of the surrounding wall 112 of the lamp cover 11. The control circuit 15 is mounted fixedlyon the lamp cover 11, and is connected electrically and wiredly to the lamp 12 through an electrical wire unit 14 that extends through the fireproof layer 13 and the lamp cover 11. The fireproof layer 13 expands when subjected to a predetermined temperature within a temperature range from 200 C to 250 C, forexample, during fire, so as tofill completely an upper portion of the inner accommodating space 114 in the lamp cover 11 such that a part of the electrical wire unit 14 is encapsulated by the intumescent material of the expanded fireproof layer 13 in the inner accommodating space 114 in the lamp cover 11, as shown in Figure 2, thereby isolating the control circuit 15 from fire.

Itisnotedthat, if the lampcoverllhasacomplicated shape, attachment of the fireproof layer 13 to the inner surface of the lamp cover 11 becomes troublesome and takes a longer period of time, thereby resulting in reduced production efficiency. Furthermore, the larger the area of the inner surface of the lamp cover 11, the greater will be the required amount of the inturnescent material of the fireproof layer 13.

Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide an embedded ceiling lighting device that can provide fireproof protection and that can be fabricated at lower costs.

According to the present invention, an embedded ceiling lighting device comprises: a lamp cover adapted to be embedded in a ceiling through a mounting hole in the ceiling and configured with an inner accommodating space; a lamp mounted in a lower portion of the inner accommodating space in the' lamp cover; a fireproof unit mounted in an upper portion of the inner accommodating space in the lamp cover, the fireproof unit including a cap body mounted fixedly in the inner accommodating space in the lamp cover and configured with an inner expansion space, the cap body having an inner surface, and a fireproof layer made of an intumescent material and attached to the inner surface of the cap body; a control circuit mounted fixedly on the lamp cover; and an electrical wire unit extending through the fireproof layer, the cap body and the lamp cover and coupled electrically to the control circuit and the lamp.

The fireproof layer expands when subjected to a predetermined temperature so as to fill the inner expansion space in the cap body of the fireproof unit such that a part of the electrical wire unit is encapsulated by the intumescent material of the expanded fireproof layer in the inner expansion space in the cap body of the fireproof unit.

Other features and advantages of the present inventionwilibecome apparent inthefollowingdetailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which: Figure 1 is a schematic sectional view of a conventional embedded ceiling lighting device; Figure 2 is a schema.tic sectional view illustrating the conventional embedded ceiling light device after expansion of a fireproof layer thereof; Figure 3 isapartlycutaway, perspectiveview showing the preferred embodiment of an embedded ceiling lighting device according to the present invention; Figure 4 is a schematic sectional view of the preferred embodiment when embedded in a ceiling; and Figure 5 is a schematic sectional view illustrating the preferred embodiment after expansion of a fireproof layer.

ReferringtoFigures 3 and4, thepreferredembodiment of an embedded ceiling lighting device according to the present invention is shown to include a lamp cover 3, a lamp 4, a fireproof unit 7, a control circuit 5, an electrical wire unit 51, and a positioning unit.

The lamp cover 3 is adapted to be embedded in a ceiling 900 through a mounting hole 901 in the ceiling 900, and is configuredwithan inner accommodating space 30. The lamp cover 3 has a base wall 31 adapted to be disposed distal from the ceiling 900, and an annular surrounding wall 32 extending from a periphery of the base wall 31 of the lamp cover 3 toward the ceiling 900.

The lamp 4 is mounted in a lower portion of the inner accommodating space 30 in the lamp cover 3.

The fireproof unit 7 is mounted in an upper portion of the inner accommodating space 30 in the lamp cover 3. The fireproof unit 7 includes a cap body 71 and a fireproof layer 72. The cap body 71 is mounted fixedly in the inner accommodating space 30 in the lamp cover 3, and is configured with an inner expansion space 75.

The cap body 71 has an inner surface 710. In this embodiment, the cap body 71 has a base wall 711 which is attached to the base wall 31 of the lamp cover 3 and which has a size smaller than that of the base wall 31 of the lamp cover 3., and an annular surrounding wall 712 extending fromaperipheryof the base wall 711 toward the lamp 4 and spaced apart from and surrounded by the annular surrounding wall 32 of the lamp cover 3. The fireproof layer 72 is made of an intumescent material, and is attached to the inner surface 710 of the cap body 71. In this embodiment, the fireproof layer 72 has a first part 72]. attached to the base wall 711 of the cap body 71, and a second part 722 connected to the first part 721 and attached to the annular surrounding wall 712 of the cap body 71, as shown in Figure 4.

The control circuit 5 is mounted fixedly on the lamp cover 3, and is connected electrically and wiredly to the lamp 4 through the electrical wire unit 51. The electrical wire unit 51 extends through the first part 721 of the fireproof layer 72, the base wall 711 of the cap body 71, and the base wall 31 of the lamp cover 3.

The positioning unit is adapted for anchoring the lamp cover 3 to the ceiling 900. In this embodiment, the positioning unit includes an annular engaging flange 33, and opposite clamping units 6. The annular engaging flange 33 extends outwardly from a lower end of the surrounding wall 32 of the lamp cover 3, is adapted to be disposed adjacent to a periphery of the mounting hole 901 in the ceiling 900, and is adapted to abut against a bottom surface 902 of the ceiling 900. Each clamping unit 6 has a clamping rod 61 connected pivotally to the surrounding wall 32 of the lamp cover 3, and a biasing member 62 for biasing a free end 611 of the clamping rod 61 to press against a top surface 903 of the ceiling 900 such that the ceiling 900 is clamped among the engaging flange 33 and the clamping rods 61 of the clamping units 6, thereby anchoring the lamp cover 3 to the ceiling 900.

It is noted that the fireproof layer 72 expands when subjected to a predetermined temperature within a range from about 200 C to 250 C, for example, during fire, so as to fill completely the inner expansion space 75 in the cap body 71 of the fireproof unit 7 such that a part of the electrical wire unit 51 is encapsulated by the intumescent material of the expanded fireproof layer 72 in the inner expansion space 75 in the cap body 71 of the fireproof unit 7, as shown in Figure 5, thereby isolating the control circuit 5 from fire.

In sum, since the cap body 71 of the fireproof unit 7 has a relatively simple construction, the fireproof layer 72 can be easily attached to the inner surface 710 of the cap body 71. Furthermore, the modular fireproof unit 7 can be easily assembled to the lamp cover 3 even though the lamp cover 3 has a complicated shape, and is also suitable for lamp covers having various shapes. On the other hand, since the area of the inner surface 710 of the cap body 71 of the fireproof unit7issmallerthanthatofthelampcover3, relatively less amount of the intumescent material of the fireproof layer 72 is required as compared to the aforesaid prior art.
