Abstract

A mains powered timer has a housing (10) having projecting conducting pins (12, 13, 14) arranged to permit the timer to be plugged into a standard mains electricity outlet. Connectors (19) are provided internally of the housing (10) for terminating a mains cable (26), and an electronic timer unit is ranged within the housing, to time a preset interval. The timer unit connects at least one conducting pin (12) to a corresponding connector (19) during timing of the pit-set interval. A manual start control (32) is accessible externally of the housing (10), to start timing of the pit-set period, and so permit the flow of electricity from the pins to the mains cable (26).
