Abstract

A Portable digital DJ Box includes a touchscreen 1, miniature computer 4 and DJ mixer 2 connected in such a way that it enables the user to select, play and mix mp3's from the hard disk drive or DVD/CD on the computer. The box has three outputs so it can be connected to any PA system or home set up, it also has other inputs to that new files can be recorded onto the PC from external sources or for additional inputs while playing. The lid when open remains at such an angle to ensure ergonomic use and also illuminates the mixer.

i - 241 1 279 Digital Box The invention relates to a flight case which

contains a miniature computer, touchscreen, DJ mixer and associated cables, connector and brackets.

Any DJ will tell you the biggest problem with playing gigs is selecting records from what can be a massive personal collection and then carrying the records to the venue. This also limits the choice of what to play while at the venue.

The object of this invention is to provide a portable product which will enable the DJ to take the entire collection and mix wherever and whenever it is required. While keeping the weight less than a full 100 LP flight case.

This invention provides a flight case with a lid, in the lid is the touchscreen, which is the interface between the user and the computer. in the main body is a DJ mixer which allows the user to mix and control the music as one would with playing vinyl. Inside the main body is a miniature computer which stores all the music (in mp3 format) and has software on which will allow the user to search, select, play/De and adjust the music.

On the rear of the case is a selection of input and output ports, the power inlet and a cooling fan. A hinge is also provided which will support the lid when In an open position, at an ergonomic angle.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1: Shows the box open, from the front FIGURE 2: Shows the box closed, from the rear - 2 As shown in figure 1, the box comprises of a lid which houses the touchscreen 1, the power and communications cables for the screen come out of the main body of the box and into the lid by virtue of a small tube 10. The lid is pivoted with two hinges 11 and will be held at a certain angle by two special hinges at either end 9.

The DJ Mixer 2 is supported by a bezel which also has the hole for the screen cables 10 and another hole which houses the computer power button 3. The computer power button comprises of a closed tube which will depress the computer's power button when pressed.

The miniature computer 4 is housed in the bottom of the box, supported by a bracket so that it doesn't move in transit. Also located in the bottom of the box are the power transformers and distribution unit.

A lock 4 is provided on the front of the box, so that it may be carried using the handle on the top 5 and also for added security. The dimensions of the unit and location of the handle allow the unit to be carrier using one hand at the side of the person.

On the rear of the box is a connection panel 6, which comprises of a power input socket, three audio outputs (Amp, booth and record), three audio inputs (two for plugging in additional record turntables, and one input for recording new music onto the computer), two USB ports (for connecting to another PC or Hard Disk Drive for transferring of files) and mouse / keyboard ports (for maintenance). A fan is also provided on the back for cooling.

The construction of the flight case 12 is similar to standard items, laminated panels, aluminium extrusions and stainless steel corner pieces held together with rivets.

   play music, a touchscreen as the user interface and a DJ mixer to mix the music.
