Abstract
249,815. Ateliers de Constructions Electriques de Charleroi. March 25. 1925, [Convention date]. Foundry ladles; transporting devices. - An electrically-operated appliance for manipulating a foundry ladle comprises a frame 3 carrying the ladle 6 and consisting of side members 3<1> pivoted about an axle 5 mounted on jib members 9 arranged to roll along girders 2, the longitudinal movement being effected by means of racks 25 engaged by pinions 25 driven by a motor 28. Tilting of the frame 3 about the axle 5 is effected by means of cables 20 wound on drums 19 driven by a motor 23 and passing round pulleys 10, 11 on the jib members 9 and pulleys 8 on the frame 3, the other ends of the cables being attached to tensioning means 21; or the tensioning means mav be dispensed with and a single cable used, the two ends of which are connected to the two drums 19. The weight of the empty ladle or of the ladle and its supporting-belt 6<11> may be counterbalanced by a weight on or near the axle of the pulleys 8. Tilting of the ladle is effected by a cable 31 or by worm gearing.
