Abstract

A rope dispenser comprises a plurality of layering compartments 110 defined by at least one dividing member 104, each layering compartment 110 receiving at least one loop of a rope to be dispensed and preferably being 1.5 times the width of the rope. Each dividing member 104 may include an indentation 105 forming a rope path between adjacent layering compartments 110. The dispenser may further comprise a storage compartment 102 communicating with one of the layering compartments 110 via an indentation 109. The dispenser may be housed within a container 100 which may have a lid 101 and a vented base. The rope may be used for lifesaving, mooring, fire escape, motor vehicle or boat towing, climbing, coastguard rescue or with a block and tackle. A rope pressing device (fig. 6) may be used to press the rope into the layering compartments 110.
