Abstract

249,321. White, J. C., and Dickinson, H. A. March 26, 1925. E le c t r i c radiators.-An imitation fire is provided with one or more rotating vane elements 6, 7 having means to periodically upset their stability to provide a continuously varying flicker by an irregular obturation of or reflection from a source of light. The vanes are mounted on bearings 8, 9 in a casing 1 having heating elements 2, 3 and a lamp 4 provided with a reflector 5. A spring finger 10 retains the vane 6 in position. The vanes 6, 7 may rotate in opposite directions and may be enclosed in a light reflecting or refracting casing. Their stability is upset by bar magnets 11, 12 on the vanes and the bearing 8 respectively. A perforated coloured glass screen 13 supporting imitation fuel 14 rests on the top of the casing. Air inlets 15 at the bottom of the casing are controlled by a shutter 16 and the air outlets in the screen 13 may be similarly controlled.
