Abstract

A top chime 1 for a keg includes two jaws 2, 3 which latch together around the neck 15 of a keg 10 to form a collar. Ideally the jaws are identical separate parts engaged by a pair of diametrically opposed hinges 72-74 with removable pins 80. There may be a concave domed lower surface attached to the upstanding wall of the collar by reinforcing webbing. There can be a sheath (5, fig 12) placed around the keg and chime including openings at the chimes handles. The chime can engage and disengage the keg by pivotal and/or translational movement, and this can be done while the keg remains coupled to a filling or dispensing head. The keg may be formed of a plastic such as PET and the chime assist handling and stacking.
