Abstract
246,792. Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Newhouse, R. C.). Jan. 30, 1925, [Convention date]. Slag cements.-Slurry, obtained for example by grinding together limestone and blast furnace slag is cooled immediately after its formation to reduce the tendency of the slag to absorb water and set. Slurry made in a mill 2 passes down a chute 3 to a cooling chamber 7 containing pipes 9 for circulating cooling liquid, and thence to storage receptacles 5. Instead of being passed through the cooling-chamber, the slurry may be treated directly with cold water.
