Abstract

A harness for converting a conventional swing into a toddler swing comprises a front waist piece 6, back waist piece 7, crotch piece S, three adjustable buckles (4, figure B), two clips 1 and two 'O' rings 5. In use, the crotch piece 8 runs under a swing seat 9 and is attached to the front and back waist pieces 6 & 7, thereby holding the child securely on the swing seat 9 and preventing the child from falling forwards or backwards. The two clips 1 on the front waist piece of the harness clip onto a respective suspension rope of the swing as well as clipping through a respective 'O' ring 5 on the back waist piece. The harness size can also be adjusted at anytime by altering the three adjustable buckles (4). The harness can applied quickly and easily so as to safely secure a toddler on a conventional swing.

Description

THE INVENTION DESCRIBED
This invention is a simple webbing harness that converts a normal, conventional swing, into a safe toddler swing that can be applied quickly and easily.
The invention cures the problem of a parent/carer only being limited to use the special toddler bucket swings in the park. It enables conversion of a conventional swing into a safe toddler swing within seconds. With 2 simple clicks, the conversion is complete.
A conventional swing consists of a straight or sling seat which is suspended from ropes, chains or other types of lines. The conventional swing is unsafe for a toddler as there are no means of support to prevent the toddler from falling off the swing, and they are usually not strong enough to support themselves and stop themselves from falling off forwards/backwards.
A real toddler swing is typically a bucket type seat that has surrounding support all the way around the child. The support is such that the child does not even have to hold onto the lines for balance. The support will keep them upright and therefore prevent them from falling off while the swing is building its momentum.
A child/toddler does not have the balance or the arm strength to stay on a conventional swing.
There are many times when parks are busy and only conventional swings are available or in some cases, there may be no toddler swings at all. Conventional swings are unsafe for toddlers/young children.
The swing safe baby harness converts a conventional swing into a toddler swing making a conventional swing usable and safe for toddlers.
It is easy to make and has low costs to manufacture. Therefore, this makes the simple safety swing harness affordable to parents, grandparents, carers etc. It is small, compact and lightweight and takes up no more room than a diaper when folded up.
It is also fully machine washable.
To secure/operate the harness is very simple and quick: The toddler is placed on the normal conventional swing.
The parent/carer takes hold of the right side clip (1) on the front waist piece (6) of the harness and clips it through the "0" ring (5) on the back waist piece (7), on the same side, after placing the crotch piece (8) underneath both the swing seat and the toddler.
Clip through the "0" ring then clip onto the sides/ropes of the swing.
Repeat the above procedure on the left side of the harness and swing.
Simple, safe, effective and affordable.
