Cutting and slicing peel.-A machine for shredding fruit peel comprises a frame 1 carrying in adjustable bearing blocks 3, 3a, shredding rollers 4, 4<a>, provided with throated cutters 5, 5<a>, which are secured on the rollers by sweating in with pure tin and which co-operate with a pair of stationary cutters 7, 7<a>. Feed rollers 11, 11<a>, one of which is pressed inwards by springs 12<b>, overlie the space between the shredding rollers and feed peel from between guides 16, 16<a>, to a separating knife 13 by which the peel is divided into pith and rind, these being directed by guides 14, 14<a>, and supplementary rollers 15, 15<a>, to the shredding rollers. The knife 13 is provided on one of its lateral surfaces with a number of dividing blades 18 that enter grooves on the roller 11 and divide the rind into strips. The knife 13 is adjustably mounted in a carrier 20 adapted to swing on pivots 21 and to be clamped in its adjusted position by wing-nuts 20<a>. By swinging the carrier until the knife 13 is close to the roller 11 that roller is rendered inoperative and the peel as a whole is fed forward by the roller 11<a>. A retaining clip 15b arranged close to the supplementary feed roller 15b ensures the last portions of pieces of peel fed by the roller 15<a> passing to the shredding roller 4<a>. Guides 22, 22a, for the shreds are suspended from the supports for the fixed cutters.
