Abstract

245,273. Smith, A., and Southall, C. Jan. 3, 1925. Feeding articles by transfer devices not associated with bins; hoppers, and shoots. - In a machine for packeting powders &c., in which the receptacles to be filled are carried past filling- nozzles by a conveyer c, the receptacles are fed to the machine by a horizontal belt a and are spaced apart, ready for transference to the conveyer, by means of a pair of stops d, e arranged to act alternately on the foremost receptacle c' and on the next receptacle c<2>. When the stop d is withdrawn, the belt a carries the foremost receptacle to the position c so that it rests against a right-angular slide b by which it is transferred to the conveyer c, and movement of the succeeding receptacles is meanwhile prevented by the stop or brake e which grips the next receptacle c<2>. The stop e is mounted on a spring- controlled arm e<1> pivoted on slide e<2> connected by a lever f to the sliding stop d, both stops being moved by a lever h against the action of a spring i. A spring-controlled pivoted member k ensures correct engagement of the receptacles with the slide b.
