Hand-shears; knives, horticultural.-Shears of the type described in Specification 195,908 in which the convex cutting-blade has a concave reentry at the apex where the base of the blade meets the guard or guard blade, are arranged so that practically the whole weight of the cutting- blade is concentrated along a line which is inclined at or about an angle of 45‹ to the length of the blade and shears, this effect being obtained by forming the back of the blade of bulged or convex shape towards the centre and with a reentry or concave, portion towards the tip. As shown the back a<1> of the cutting-blade A is convex at, a<2> and concave at a<4>. The blade A and guard or guard blade B are detachable and are each secured to the corresponding head d<1> of the handles D by three screws c, and the heads taper upwards and outwards from the handles to form broad upper ends with concave gaps d<3>; the handles are long and heavy and are formed with broad knob-shaped shoulders d.
