Abstract

The mixing drum E can be rotated by hand on rollers that are mounted on the wheel barrow D. The front roller plate A has two rollers with channels (Figure 3) into which a positioning flange on the mixing drum is located to stabilise the drum during rotation and hold the drum in position whilst it is emptied. The angle of the front roller plate can be adjusted at B to ensure that the angle of the drum is in line with the two channeled rollers. The drum is also supported by a back roller plate C that is secured to the wheel barrow. Once the mixing is complete the wheel barrow can be returned to normal use since both the front and back roller plates can be removed to be stored in the drum. The drum has carrying handles, a flat bottom so that it can be placed on the ground and internal paddles to assist in mixing the cement during rotation.

Description

2336116 MANUALLY OPERATED CEMENT MIXER
Technical Field.
This invention relates to a cement mixer, specially adapted to drive by muscle power.
Background.
Motorised cement mixers are a well known pro using a mixing drum which contains some form of paddles to assist m the movement of the raw Ma as the drum rotates. The size of the motorised drum is dependant on the amount of concrete that needs to be produced in one batch.
These motorised cement mixers are excellent for ponal use. but are too expensive, heavy and difficult to store for occasional use by the general public.
Essential Technical Features- The invention consists of four component parts. A firont roller plate with two channeled rollers secured permanently ( A Fig 1), and an angle adjustment device ( B Fig 1). A back plate with two rollers secured permanently ( C Fig 1). A standard design wheel barrow. ( D Fig 1). A Mixing Drum with internal paddles and drum positioning/ holding flange which locates into the channeled front rollers (E Fig).
The plates with the rollers ( B & C Fig 1) are in position by utilising four pre-drilled holes in the standard wheel barrow. The mixing drum is lifted onto the rollers forming a manually operated cement mixer.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:- Figure 1 shows a side elevation of the assembled manually operated cement mixer. with all the component parts- Figure 2 shows a plan elevation of the assembled manually operated cement mixer and the inset carrying handles.
Figure 3 shows a plan elevation of a standard d wheel barrow with front and back roller plates fitted without the mixing drum in position.
Figure 4 illustrates how the four major components come together to form the manually operated cement mixer.
Descripon.
Referring to the drawings. the manually operated cement mixer comprises of a front roller plate with channeled rollers ( A Fig 1). The drum positioning/holding flange on the mixing drum locates into the front channeled rollers, ensuring stability during rotation. Also fitted to the front roller plate is the adjustable angling device ( B Fig 1), this is used to compensate for any slight variation of the angle of the mixing drum to line up with the front rollers. This plate is sewed to the wheel barrow in such a way that it can be easily removed after use, and is stored in the mixing drum. This allows the wheel barrow to return to its previous use. The invention can be used with a variety of makes of standard design wheel barrows.
A back roller plate ( C Fig 1) is provided to support the bottom of the rnixing drum. This plate is also secured to the wheel barrow in such a way that it can also be easily removed after use and is also stored in the mixing drum.
The two roller plates are secured to a standard design wheel barrow ( D Fig 1), which acts as a solid frame to hold the rollers in position. By having a wheel barrow as the supporting frame. it allows either the premixed or mixed load to be wheeled to any desired location.
The mixing drum ( E Fig 1) comprises of a drum with internal paddles inside and a flat bottom to enable the drum to be placed on the ground in the upright position. Inset handles are integral so the drum can be carried. The positioning/holding flange is provided for location m the channeled front wheel holding it in position during mixing and emptying. The mixing drum is easily removed from its frame as it is only held in position by its own weight and gravity- This allows the finished mix to be camed to its final destination up stairs or through gaps too small for the wheel barrow to pass.
The mixing drum is rotated by standing to one side of the wheel barrow and tn- pushing towards the top of the drum with a hand under hand motion. The invention is clearly illustrated in ( Fig 1).
