Abstract

A carbonated drinks bottle has a cylindrical portion modified to incorporate circumferential "fins" (1) that allow the bottle to concertina (3), thereby reducing the internal volume capacity of the bottle and allowing the application of increased pressure within the bottle in order to preserve the effervescent qualities of the carbonated beverage that it contains. Preferably, outwardly projecting portions (A) of the fins (1) are longer and steeper than inwardly projecting portions (B).

Description

Carbonated Drinks Bottle This invention relates to a carbonated drinks bottle.
Carbonated drinks can be held in large plastic bottles that can be re-seaied by a srewable lid These vessels snuffer from the disadvantage that, as the volume of the beverage witbin it reduces, so the effervescent qualities become less well preserved.
An object of this invention is to provide a carbonated drinks bottle that can be modified in such a way, so as to reduce it's internal volume, allowing the level of the remaining beverage to rise to the rim, as well as providing a means for rewpressurising the contents of the bottle.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the bottle filled with carbonated beverage.
Figure 2 illustrates the compressed bottle after removal of a quantity of carbonated beverage Referring to the drawings, the design consists of a durable plastic bottle, the cylindrical portion of which has been modified to incorporate circumferential "fins" (1) that allows the bottle to concertina, resulting in a reduction-in both the height and internal volume capacity of the bottle.
The re-screwabte lid (2) is removed and a variable amount of carbonated beverage is poured from the bottle. The bottle is then compressed like a concertina (3) so that the level of the remaining beverage rises towards the top of the bottle The bottle is then re-sealed and a further compression allows the application of raised pressure inside the bottle. This process can be repeated each time that beverage is removed from the bottles An important feature of the concertina, is that it is able to retain it's new, albeit reversible, shape once compressed. This is acheived because of the specific features of the Lfmsn which have been designed so that the outward projecting portion (A) is longer, and steeper than the inward projecting portion (B).

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1. A carbonated drinks bottle that allows a reduction in it's volume carrying capacity.
  2. 2. A carbonated drinks bottle as claimed in Claim 1, where a segment of the vessel can be compressed in a fixed, albeit reversible, fashion.
  3. 3. A carbonated drinks bottle as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2, where the incorporation of fins allows the bottle to concertina and retain it's new, albeit reversible, shape.
  4. 4. A carbonated drinks bottle as claimed in Claim 1, Claim 2 and Claim 3, where the fins are designed so that the outward projecting portion is longer, and steeper than the inward projecting portion
  5. 5. A carbonated drinks bottle substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
