Abstract
An air purifier uses water as the means of removing dust from air. A disinfectant may be included in the water to remove "germs" from the air. The purifier may further include an activated charcoal filter at it's outlet to also remove smoke or odours from the air.
Description
MULTIPURE
This invention relates to an air purifier, where air is sucked in through an inlet, filtered and ejected somewhat cleaner through an outlet.
Such filters are well known but suffer from many disadvantages quite often hence are inconvenient, expensive, inefficient, can expose one to dust particles when changing filters and are of limited use.
The purpose of this invention is to provide an air purifier that is 100% efficient, cheap, convenient and versatile.
Accordingly this invention provides an air purifier with the main purifier being a body of water which will trap any particles, no matter how small, and can be changed at the touch of a button at no cost at all.
Preferably the air purifier is made from a strong transparent plastic, so that the degree of water contamination will be visible, and an electric motor of similar type to those found in ordinary vacuum cleaners or an electric motor that works in both directions.
A detailed embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying diagram which shows a front view of the entire purifier.
As shown in the drawing, the purifier consists of two main parts, the motor A. and an airtight body of spherical shape (although different shapes could, of course, be utilised).
The body contains an inlet B. and two outlets C. & D. A flexible plastic hose fits both inlet B. and outlet D. To outlet C. a filter of activated charcoal can be introduced or removed at will. E. is a funnel-like perforated plastic cover with a bent narrow end.
Its function is to control water turbulence and only allows air to escape.
Water is introduced to a suitable level F. by connecting the hose to inlet B. and switching the motor onto suction. Now, when the motor is switched on, dusty polluted air is sucked in, filtered by the water and exits through outlet C. If a little disinfectant is added to the water the air will come out 100% germ free. Furthermore if an activated charcoal filter is placed inside outlet C. smoke and odours are also eliminated.
To empty contaminated water the flexible hose is fitted to inlet B. and the motor is switched to reverse. Alternatively the hose is fitted to outlet D. and one slides it open.
Claims (5)
1. An air purifier using water as the main filter, producing 100% dust free air.
2. An air purifier with a filter that never clogs up, never exposes one to dust and can be changed at no charge by the touch of a button.
3. An air purifier as claimed in claiml. that also produces 100% germ free air by adding a suitable steriliser/disinfectant to the water filter.
4. An air purifier as in claim 1 but also eliminates smoke, odours and other organic gases by adding a second filter of activated charcoal just prior to air exit.
5. An air purifier as claimed in all previous claims.
