Abstract

232,097. Hartley, S. J., and Barnard, A. W. A. Aug. 23, 1924. Locking nuts.-In a nut-locking device of the type comprising a spring-pressed pawl contained in the wall of the nut which engages longitudinal ratchet grooves in the bolt, the pawl 4 is made reversible so that it engages the grooves 2 when turned in one direction and. rides over them when turned in the opposite direction. The inner end 4<a> of the pawl is enlarged behind the ratchet tooth and a spring 7 is accommodated between this enlargement and an externally screwed ring 5. The bent outer end 4<b> of the pawl is adapted to occupy a groove 3a in a facet of the nut.
