Description

AUTOMATIC PUMPDOWN CONTROL DEVICE This invention relates to an electronic automatic pumpdown control device.
The electronic automatic pumpdown control device is specifically for use in any refrigeration and air conditioning system which has a liquid receiver.
This control device has been designed to prevent the build-up of refrigerants by audible and visual alarm before sufficient refrigerant has leaked. The device will pump down and stop the compressor well before a dangerous level is reached.
The control device will be activated on sensing the refrigerant around the condensing unit, evaporator, or in the surrounding air.
In the automatic mode the refrigerant will all he pumped into the receiver after the sensor is activated for a preset period of time. This time period may he altered by adjusting the delay control from zero to four minutes.
During the alarm "ON" time, the buzzer will sound and the "Alarm Activated n indicator will also light, and remain on until the OFF/RESET switch is operated, thus giving an indication that the system has been tripped off. The system may he turned on at any time by using the RESET/ALARM switch.
The compressor may be turned ON/OFF manually by using the AUTO/ON switch. The failure indicator will remain permanently on until the leaks have been fixed.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the operation steps, as shown below: Step 1 will be activated on leakage of refrigerant; Step 2 audible and visual alarm when activated; Step 3 response to stop the refrigerant flow on pumpdown.
Step 4 Pumpdown until the low pressure reaches 2 psig; Step 5 The compressor/system will stop operating when low pressure reaches 2 psig.
SPECIFICATION Power source available in 115/230 V AC 12/24 V DC.
Overload protection; None sparks change contact relay switching up to 10 amp.
The switching time can be adjustable by the delay contact from zero to 4 minutes.
Room operating temperature from -10 C to +50"C.
Enclosure made from anti-shock material,

Claims (2)

  1. CLAIMS 1. An "Automatic Pumpdown Control Device" is a pumpdown control to detect leakage of refrigerant. It will control the solenoid valve to stop the refrigerant flow and pump down. It will respond to pump all refrigerant into the liquid receiver when there is any leakage of refrigerant.
  2. 2. An " Automatic Pumpdown Control Device" as claimed in Claim 1. above where it responds to pump all refrigerant into liquid receiver. This means the compressor continues to pump until the low pressure reaches 2 psig, stopping operation until the leak has been located and repaired.
