Abstract

A latching handle assembly for a door or window having a tilt and turn action is pivotable between three positions - closed, semi-open and open. It is protected against applied reverse force when in a partly open condition, yet may be fully opened by disengaging a latching means 23 by manually depressing a push button 17 release. A cam 19 on the push button 17 hears on a lever 21 which further has a latch 23 which in the closed position engages a recess 24 in a rose 25. To move to the open position the push button 17 is depressed to disengage the lever 21 and allow for the rotation of the handle 13. When the push button 17 is released the lever 21 is biased back into engagement with the recess 24.
