Abstract
238,375. Hall, J. A., and George, W. F. C. Aug. 14, 1924. Gravity, materials descending by; air, controlling circulation of.-Grain is subjected to a rapid heating and drying operation by passing it down a casing d across which air is passed by means of tiers of inverted troughs a forming alternately inlet and outlet ducts, the air being continuously circulated through a fan g and and heater h. The air may be moistened by steam jet or dried by a condenser before being returned to the casing d. Of the lower ducts, some j are open to the atmosphere and the others k are connected to a fan n so that air is drawn through the grain to cool and dry it. If desired, by opening a valve m and closing a similar valve o the whole of the air passing through the grain may pass out through the fan n and is then admitted from the atmosphere uy a valve p or a similar valve in the pipe e. The heater h may then be dispensed with.
