Abstract
The protective cover is a hollow tube of non-rigid material 1, at each end of which is a hem 3, through which two drawstrings 2 or similar closing device are fitted. At two diametrically opposite points on each hem, the hem is cut away 4, to expose and make accessible the drawstrings or similar closing device. Each drawstring may be of a different colour.
Description
Protective Cover
This invention relates to a tubular protective cover.
The use of bags and other covers is well known when there is a need to protect objects during transportation, in storage and otherwise, from damage caused by exposure to the elements, dust, other solid matter, liquids and other contaminants, and to protect, from the contents of bags and other covers, people, the environment or surroundings.
Bags are open at one end only and what they can be used for is often limited by the size of the bag. Covers come in a variety sizes, but, in general, have no fixed or convenient method of sealing and securing.
According to the present invention there is provided a hollow tube of non-rigid material (a Lay Flat Tube), at each end of which there may be two continuous, free to move, loops of material commonly known as drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device, each of which may be of a different colour, which travel, within a hem, around the whole circumference of each end of the tube except, at two diametrically opposite points on the circumference of each end of the tube, where the hem is cut away to expose and make accessible, the loops of material commonly known as drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig 1 shows the protective cover in plan view, front elevation and end elevation.
Fig 2 illustrates the protective cover open, expanded and ready to be used to cover a solid object.
Fig 3 illustrates the protective cover open, expanded and covering a solid object, prior to the ends being closed.
Fig 4 illustrates the protective cover with the solid object inside and the cover having been closed at each by use of such as, drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device.
Referring to the drawing the protective cover in Fig 1 comprises a hollow tube of nonrigid material (a Lay Flat Tube) 1, at each end of which there may be two continuous, free to move, loops of material commonly known as drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device 2, each of which may be of a different colour, which travel, within a hem 3, around the whole circumference of each end of the tube 1 except, at two diametrically opposite points on the circumference of each end of the tube 1, where the hem 3, is cut away 4, to expose and make accessible, the loops of material commonly known as drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device 2.
In order to use the cover it is necessary to lift the tube 1, by one end and open it as illustrated in Fig 2. The cover can then be placed over, such as, a solid object 5, as illustrated in Fig 3 and each end of the tube 1 can then be closed by, such as, pulling the loops of material commonly known as drawstrings or tapes, or a similar device 2, as illustrated in Fig 4, thus enclosing the object 5 inside the cover.
