Abstract

A metal sheet pile has at least one interlock (12) with a cavity (14) that is filled with a sealant (15). The sealant is of flowable consistency and the open side of the cavity (14) is closed by a member which is progressively displaced by an interlock of a neighbouring sheet pile, on driving the neighbouring pile. An end plate is used to close the lower open end of the cavity (14). The sealant (15) may have hydrophilic properties and the closure member may be in the form of a solid length of hard sealant (16) or a spring clip (17, fig 5).
