Abstract

The foldable cardboard binoculars have flexible inward collapsing and connecting side struts, preferably in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid. The binoculars have radius shaped top and bottom canopies at one end and parallel top and bottom canopies at the other end to enable the locking of the eyepieces and lenses in parallax and exclude ambient light from the inside of the box.

Description

FOLDABLE POCKET SIZED CARDBOARD BINOCULARS Brief description This invention is a self-righting binocular cardboard structure with plastic lenses. The primary function of such a pocket sized collapsible device is in providing an inexpensive means of
optical enlaro optical enlargement in a casual context.
It relies upon cardboard engineering to create an effective binocular viewer. It can be packed into a flat-pack form small and flat enough to fit in the pocket. The casing is entirely constructed from cardboard. It is creased in such a way that when drawn from its envelope the light pressure of fingers alone turn it from a flat into a three dimensional object. This way the eye pieces and magnifying lenses lock into parallax enabling the user to obtain the optical effect of binocular enlargement over considerable distances-for example at sports and racing events, concerts or for sight seeing purposes. When fully opened it forms a box with magnifying lenses at the front, eye pieces at the rear, top and bottom that can bend across the narrower side and the flexible
inward collapsing side struts (Fig 7 and Fig 8). What makes this item unique is the following : The original design of the cardboard construction, with its flexible inward collapsing side struts, enable the locking of the eyepieces and lenses in parallax and also excludes the ambient light from the inside of the box. Please refer to the drawings on pages 2 and 3 for a more accurate description of this invention.
