Abstract

A padded bag is provided for carrying microphones, cables and other accessories. The bag may be made from a nylon, polyester, PVC laminate and may be closed by an inclined zip 1. The microphones may be received in recesses 3 in foam inserts 2 and be protected by a padded lid 4. Cables may be retained by loops 5 of "hook and loop" fastener tape.

<Desc/Clms Page number 1> MUSICIANS MICROPHONE & CABLE BAG This invention relates to a bag specifically designed to carry musician's microphones and cables, keeping them safe and tidy.

Various soft bags are available for Tennis, Squash, photography and many other activities but nothing specific for the musician who invariably carries a multitude of cables, microphones, extension leads, effects pedals etc.

The object of this invention is to provide a special purpose, soft but rugged bag to carry up to 4 microphones and 12 coiled leads with additional space for extension leads, effects pedals etc. A preferred embodiment of the invention is now described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows the bag open The basic bag's outside dimensions would be approximately 60 cm long, 40 cm high and 30 cm wide, but these measurements could be varied to accommodate more or less equipment. The bag could be made from various materials but probably a sandwich of nylon, polyester and PVC. The PVC would provide some stiffness to the bag so it kept the shape shown in fig 1. The bag is opened and closed by a zip 1, which extends fully around 3 sides of the bag and partially along each end of the bottom, allowing the bag to be fully opened as illustrated, giving easy access to load and unload the bag.

In the base of the bag there are 4 removable foam inserts 2, with cut outs 3, to grip and hold microphones.

Above the foam inserts is a padded lid 4, to further protect the microphones from other equipment stored in the bag. The lid is attached by at the back edge to the side of the bag and the front can be lifted as illustrated to give access to the microphones.

On both of the inner walls of the bag there are fabric loops 5, stitched at one end to the side wall of the bag and at the other end secured by 'hook and loop' tape such that they can hold coiled cables firmly in position. There would probably be 6 such cable loops each side. On the underside of the top of the bag 6, there are small elasticated net pockets with zips to hold small accessories or tools.

The bag would be carried by two handles 7, both of which would be stitched down the full depth of the bag and underneath to ensure strength and support. The outside panels of the bag would carry a manufacturers logo and a small panel 8, also on the outside would hold the owners business card in case the bag become lost.

Claims

CLAIMS 1. A microphone and cable bag comprising of a padded bag specifically designed to transport safely and in an ordered fashion, microphones, cables and other accessories.
2. A microphone and cable bag as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the bag is made of a sandwich of materials such as nylon, polyester and PVC, to provide padded protection to the equipment and provide stiffness to the walls of the bag so that the bag keeps its shape whilst open to facilitate easy access and storage of accessories.
3. A microphone and cable bag as claimed in Claim 1 and 2 wherein the zip opening of the bag is positioned diagonally across the bag allowing the bag to be fully opened for easy access and storage of all the microphones, cables and other accessories.
4. A microphone and cable bag as claimed in Claim 1 wherein attached to the internal walls of the bag are loops with 'hook & loop' fastenings to hold cables in groups, secure and tidy and prevent tangling in transit or storage.
5. A microphone and cable bag as claimed in Claim 1 wherein at the base of the bag there are protected from other equipment placed above them by a padded lid.
6. A microphone and cable bag as claimed in Claim 1 wherein there is a concealed storage pouch underneath the top face of the bag which can contain smaller accessories or tools.
7. A microphone and cable bag substantially as described herein with reference to the accompanying drawing.
