Abstract
A bicycle brake light, which may comprise LEDs, have a cover of red plastic and be fitted to the saddle pole, operates in response to a pressure sensitive brake pad to which it is connected preferably via a connection box.
Description
2354064 The Bicycle Brake Ligh't The invention is a new concept for
bicycle safety; the Bicycle Brake Light is a red light which lights up showing when a bicycle is stopping or slowing down immediately when the brakes are being used.
Such a light will warn. other vehicles of what you are doing. So if you were on the road and were slowing down a car behind will instantly know that you are slowing down without you having to move your hands of the handlebars. This intern gives you more safety riding your bike, as you always have maximum control and drivers can react sensibly to your options.
The object of the bicycle brake light is to warn other vehicles when the cyclist is stopping or slowing down.
The light looks like an ordinary bicycle light but the main difference is a change of circuit. The brake pad has a pressure sensor, which when under pressure allows the light on the bicycle to light up.
The Brake Light comes with a red see through cover with three bright LED's (light emitting diode) inside, these are connected via a wire to the brake pad which has a pressure sensor in it. So when there is pressure on the brake pad all he lights light up. Also there is a connector half way across the wire that allows the owner to change a warn out brake pad without having to buy a new light as well. The power comes from two 1.5v AA sized batteries.
The light can be attached to the saddle pole or anywhere else a normal bike light can go.
The main part is made from tough durable plastic, and the cover is a red transparent plastic, the wires are insulated in soft plastic. The connection box is also made of plastic, and the brake pad is made of a tough durable rubber.
FIG 1. This is a red reflective cover to hold in the components and to reflect light when the LEDs are not in use.
FIG I a. This is the side view of FIG 1.
FIG 2. This is the main part of the bicycle brake light, it holds together 3 LEDs, 2 AA sized batteries and the circuit.
FIG 2a. This is the side view of FIG 2.
FIG 3. This part holds the brake light on to the saddle pole or to any part of the bike where normal rear lights would fit.
FIG 4. A two wire cable in plastic coating.
FIG 5. A connection box, so the brake pad can be disconnected from the main body (FIG 2) allowing you to change the brake pad without having to buy a complete new bicycle brake light.
FIG 6. This is a brake pad with a hole to fit the pressure sensor.
FIG 7. This is a pressure sensor that fits in to the brake pad (FIG 6).
FIG 8. This is the complete bicycle break light fitted on a bicycle.

Claims (4)
1. The Bicycle Brake Light turns on without the cyclist having to touch the light or remove his/her hands off the handlebars.
2. The Bicycle Brake Light fixes to the saddle pole and the pressure sensitive brake pad goes where a normal brake pad would go.
3. The Bicycle Brake Light can split into two pieces at the connection box; this is so the pressure sensitive brake pad can be changed without having to change the actual brake light.
4. The Bicycle Brake Light shows other road users that you are stopping or slowing down.
