Gas cooking - stoves; ovens. - To restrict the flow of gases from a gas oven, a supplementary back-plate b is secured behind the, oven to form a channel into which the gases pass over the top of the existing back a, which is cut down, as shown, for this purpose. The channel is open at the lower end, and a conical flue pipe c, open to atmosphere at both ends, extends into it through the supplementary back plate. In the case of a new oven, the channel is formed between the back plate proper and a supplementary back plate arranged in front of it and stopping short of the top of the oven. An enamelled plate is fixed to the front of the supplementary back, or detachably secured by hooks which engage the top of the latter.
