Abstract

A clip-board is mounted in an enclosure, access to the surface of the clip-board for writing purposes being through an open end or side (7) of the enclosure. The top (2) of the enclosure extending above the surface of the clip-board in transparent. The base of the enclosure on which the clip-board rests extends outwardly (8) from the side-walls of the enclosure to provide a hand-hold for the enclosure when using the clip-board. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Clipboard assemblies This invention relates to clip-board assemblies.
One of the problems associated with clip-boards is that they can not readily be used outdoors in inclement weather conditions and the object of the present invention is to overcome this problem.
According to the invention a clip-board assembly comprises a clip-board mounted in an enclosure, access to the surface of the clip-board for writing purposes being through an open side of the enclosure.
The invention will now be described byway of example with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings, in which:- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of one clipboard assembly in accordance with the invention, and Figures 2 and 3 show a front view and a side view respectively.
The clip-board assembly has an enclosure comprising a base 1, top 2, side-walls 3 and 4 and rear end-wall 5 fitted together. Supported on the base 1 so that it can not move about is clip-board 6. Access to the clip-board for writing is through the open front 7, i.e. an open side, of the enclosure. The base 1 extends outwardly at flanges 8 from the side-walls 3 and 4 to enable it to be comfortably held by the hand when using the clip-board. At least the top 2 of the enclosure is transparent so that a person can see to use the clip-board.
Advantageously the clip-board assembly is collapsible so that when not in use it can be packed flat. For example the side-walls and end-wall 3,4 and 5 can fit in and interlock with undercut grooves in the base 1 and top 2, the upper and lower edges of the side-walls and end-wall 3,4 and 5 being suitably profiled to effect the interlocking. Appropriate weatherproofing sealing can be provided between the side-walls 3 and 4 and the end-wall 5.
CLAIMS (Filed on 9 March 1983) 1. A clip board assembly comprising a clip-board mounted in an enclosure, access to the surface of the clip-board for writing purposes being through an open side of the enclosure.
2. A clip-board assembly according to Claim 1, wherein the top of the enclosure extending above the surface of the clip-board is transparent.
3. A clip-board assembly according to Claim 1 or 2 wherein the base of the enclosure on which the clip board rests extends outwardly from the side-walls of the enclosure to provide a hand-hold for the enclosure when using the clip-board.
4. A clip-board assembly substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
