Abstract

Novel octadienylhydroxyalkylethers of the formula <IMAGE> where each R is hydrogen or methyl and n is 4, 5 or 6 are made from a conjugated diolefin and butane-1,4-diol, pentane-1,5-diol or hexane-1,6-diol. These compounds or their saturated analogues may be converted to novel surfactants by ethoxylation with up to 30 ethylene oxide units per molecule.
