Depositing machines.-Relates to apparatus for making chocolate, liquorice, sugar &c. pastilles of the type wherein the fluid mass is extruded through a valved nozzle by pneumatic pressure, and comprises a reservoir for the viscous mass, a separate squirter and a flexible tube connecting the squirter and reservoir. As shown in Fig. 1 the material is contained in a closed vessel 1 maintained at a suitable temperature and is subjected to pneumatic pressure. A flexible tube 2 connects the vessel 1 to a syringe-like vessel 3, Fig. 2, fitted with a nozzle 4 adapted to be closed by a valve 8 which is raised for delivery of the material to a table or mould, against the action of a spring 14, by a cam 19 on a shaft 20 which may be operated by hand or automatically. The nozzles 4 are interchangeable and the delivery may be regulated by changing the cam 19 or by the provision of an adjustable abutment 24. A modification is described in which the vessel 3 is furnished with a number of nozzles and is movable along rails. The device may be used for decoration by lifting the valve rod 9 by a finger disc 26, or preferably by replacing the spring 14 by a lifting spring and keeping the valve closed by pressure on the disc 26.
