Cup-leather packing.-Packing for the pistonrod e of a vacuum brake consists of a rubber or other ring having a flange b secured in a recess of the box f by the flange of a liner d. The packing edge of the cup-leather is thickened and rounded, and is preferably of slightly less internal diameter than the diameter of the rod. The box has perforations j to permit access of air.
