Abstract

Novel esters having the general formula: <IMAGE> wherein R is hydrogen or methyl, and X is bromine or chlorine, are prepared by esterifying the corresponding halide. Polymers prepared from said esters and thus containing structural units of the formula: <IMAGE> are useful as flameproofing agents in plastics compositions.
