Abstract

A control input switching mechanism for domestic appliances, comprising a bank or array (3) of sensor buttons (3') provided on a panel (2) of the appliance. A plate (4) is mounted spaced behind the panel (2) and carries electrodes (5, 5') forming capacitors, one plate (5) of each of which is electrically connected by a contact spring (6) to a respective sensor button (3'). Upon finger contact of a sensor button (3') the capacitance of its respective capacitor (5, 5') varies so as to provide an output to switching electronics of the appliance. <IMAGE>
