A process for the preparation of tertiary alkyl ethers by reaction of a tertiary mono-olefin with a primary alcohol in the presence of a catalyst, the reaction taking place in the liquid phase in a reactor, characterized in that part of the reaction mixture from the reaction is directly recycled.
