Abstract

A connection for telescoping tubular members comprises an outer pipe 11, an inner pipe 13 whose one end is telescopically received within the outer pipe 11, and a resilient gasket 23 sealingly disposed between an end of the outer pipe 11 and the outer peripheral surface of the inner pipe 11. The gasket 23, which is urged against the end of the outer pipe and the surface of the inner pipe by a V-band clamping device 24, also holds the pipes in spaced relation to each other. The free end of the telescoped inner pipe 11 is provided with an inwardly turned lip 19 which produces a venturi effect under fluid flow conditions for reducing the pressure and temperature of the fluid acting on the gasket 23. <IMAGE>
