Abstract

High-tension secondary current from an ignition coil (not shown) is accumulated in a capacitator set at the head of a spark plug and when the voltage of the discharge electrode at the end of the spark plug has built up to a predetermined discharge value, the electrical charge accumulated in the capacitor is discharged at a stroke to produce strong sparks. The capacitor is made up of a cylinder 1 of insulating material between metallic inner and outer cylinders 2 and 3. The outer cylinder is grounded, and the inner cylinder is electrically connected to the plug lead/discharge electrode path by way of a terminal shaft 4. <IMAGE>
