Abstract

A glucoheptonic magnesium compound is used as sequestering agent in detergent compositions containing persalts such as sodium perborate. It is particularly effective in inhibiting loss of persalt activity and/or minimising damage to a cellulosic substrate in the presence of iron. A magnesium silicate and optionally an organic sequestering agent such as EDTA may also be present in the composition.
