Abstract

A flame and heat resistant pile fabric comprises a base sheet, e.g. made from flame-resistant and heat- resistant fibres, bearing on one or both faces a pile comprising yarn, e.g. spun staple fibre yarn, of acrylic or cellulosic fibres which have been converted to a blackened, flame-resistant state. either in situ or beforehand. The base sheet may have a pile on one face and a flexible coating, e.g. of a latex compound, on the other face.
