Abstract

A mechanical seal for separating fluids and associated with a housing and a shaft, the seal comprising a non rotatable seal ring (28) and a rotatable seal ring (18), the non rotatable seal ring being biased toward the rotatable seal ring by a control pressure fluid (P2), the pressure of which may be varied to change or modify the seal balance. <IMAGE>
