Abstract

A system adapted to fit an external item (220), such as a solar collector, on a tiled/slate roof (200) includes an elongate member (102) fixable, in use, to a roof support (204B) beneath a roof tile or slate (206). The system further includes a retaining member (117) adjustably mountable on the elongate member, the retaining member, in use, assisting with retaining the roof tile or slate in position, and a bracket member (105) adjustably mountable on the elongate member, the bracket member, in use, assisting with fitting the external item to the elongate member. A first end of the elongate member may have fixing means for securing to the underlying roof structure, and be covered by a row of tiles, the other end may overlie an adjacent row of tiles so as to be exposed. The retaining member may be slideably mounted on the elongate members.
