Abstract

A remote control system for a constructional machine such as a crane or digger, comprises a remote control stopping means of a driven moving part of the machine. Preferably a short-range, radio frequency transmitter 2 is firmly attached to a high visibility jacket worn by a banksman. The machine may include an transmitter, receiver 4, relay bank 6, keyed swith/button 12 with a reset facility 14, solenoid valve 16. Whereby the receiver 4 is connected to the relay bank 8 with which are associated a green LED 8 indicating that the machine is operable, a red LED 10 indicating that the machine is inoperable and a tamper-proof keyed switch 12 with a secure reset 10 facility 14. The relay bank 6 is connected to a fail-safe, on-off, solenoid valve 16 controlling an hydraulic operating circuit of the machine.
