Abstract

A riding shoe wherein the sole of the shoe is provided with treads c that are inclined to facilitate movement of the shoe in a rearward direction off a stirrup upon which the shoe is resting. The treads c may be inclined so that they slope upwardly towards the rear of the shoe. A heel portion may also be provided which has treads which are deeper than those on the sole of the shoe. Disclosed in a second invention is a shoe wherein the treads of the heel are deeper than those on a sole of the shoe. The increased depth of the heel treads is provided to prevent slipping on the ground without effecting the engagement with the stirrup.
