Abstract

A smoking article 1 comprises a rod of smokable material 2, a wrapper 3 about the rod of smokable material, and a patch 10 of reconstituted tobacco circumscribing a front end portion of the rod. The smoking article is preferably a filter cigarette. The patch 10 of reconstituted tobacco is preferably situated between the smokable material 2 and the wrapper 3, and may be adhered to the wrapper 3 during manufacture of the wrapper, and before manufacture of the smoking article 1. The patch 10 serves to provide a more intense flavour to the user as the smoking article is lit.
