Abstract

A method for protecting an area of the sea bed or an installation placed on the sea bed, the protection being in the form of a stabilizing medium such as gravel, dumped over and/or around the sea bed and/or installation from a floating vessel, comprising taking profiles or cross-sections of the sea bed area and/or installation to be protected, said profiles or cross- sections and a predetermined coverage being used to determine the necessary volume of material to be applied per unit length or area, and using these data to determine the rate of feeding of the gravel and/or the speed of the floating vessel, the gravel being dumped through a pipe means suspended from the floating vessel. <IMAGE>
