Abstract

In a method of laying a row of heavy elements such as paving blocks, pipes or kerbstones 8 on a levellable base material, a guiding frame 2 is secured, as by hydraulic clamps at A, B, C to the foremost already-laid element(s) 8, the frame 2 carrying adjustable guide rods 26 for a levelling scraper 34 which is forwardly movable by a jack 38 for levelling the base material in front of the foremost element. The frame 2 has support rollers 10, 14 resting on the elements 8 and may have a sensor cooperating with a guide 52. In a modification the frame supports a small crane. <IMAGE>
