Abstract
A process for producing an optical fibre comprises applying a coating material onto an optical fiber, directly after drawing thereof and prior to contact thereof with any other solid substance and heat drying said coating material at 100 DEG -500 DEG C, said coating material consisting of a resinous composition essentially composed of modified 1,2-addition polybutadiene in an organic solvent. The use of fast curing modified polybutadiene compositions permits drawing speeds in excess of the normal 30/40 metres per minute to be used.
