Abstract

An optical fibre connector comprises in respect of each of the optical fibres (1, 2, 8) to be connected, a connector body part (6) formed at one end with a recess (9, 11, 12) which accurately locates a sphere lens (3, 4, 10) relative to an optical fibre receiving hole (7) extending through the body part (6) and terminating at the centre of the recess (9, 11, 12) whereby the axis of the optical fibre (8) received by the hole and preferably bonded to the surface of the sphere lens (10) is aligned with the centre of the sphere lens. Connecting means is provided for connecting together in axial alignment two of the body parts (6) with the sphere lenses (10) of the parts arranged in opposed relationship. <IMAGE>
