Abstract
A method of assembling the aft end 3 of a marine vessel with main propulsion machinery plant 8, the hull of the aft end being assembled from sets of side 2, bottom, deck and transverse bulkhead sections 6, 7 on a building berth having a plurality of successively arranged assembly stations (or sets of assembly stations) A, B, C whereof the first A is used to assemble the bottom and sides 2 of the aft end hull 3 from the sets of bottom and side sections, whereupon the aft end is transferred to the second assembly station B where the main propulsion machinery plant 8 is mounted, and then subsequently transferred to the third assembly station C where the transverse bulkhead and deck sections 6, 7 are installed. This method helps to speed up the assembly of aft ends of vessels and raise the productivity of shipyards. <IMAGE>
