Abstract
During evaporation for the production of soft water from raw salt water or briny water, by using uptake tubes heated from outside, the inner walls of the tubes are covered with a substantial amount of sediments. The elimination of such a layer of sediments takes place generally by stopping the evaporator and by mechanically cleaning the different tubes. It is also known to scrape the deposits during operation of the evaporator, which leads to the destruction of the tubes. Further, the cross section area for the passage of fluid is substantially narrowed. According to the invention, it is proposed to actuate, in all the tubes (4) during operation of the evaporator, spiral springs (22) which extend along the tubes; these springs have a negligible influence on the tube walls and eliminate the sediments by means of the turbulence generated. <IMAGE>
